2008 HIGHLIGHTS Home meet vs. Valley View - In the first meet of the season, Brittany Swift ties the school record in the pole vault. West Carrollton boys win big in the relays. Danielle Crouch wins the 100. Miami East Invitational - Brett Gault wins the 300 hurdles and places well in the 110 highs. He also shows great character on the 4 x 400 relay by passing four runners! The girls welcome back Kiki Behr and she immediately makes a difference for the team. Vandalia Butler Invitational - The girls 4 x 200 relay places well against stiff competition. Brett Gault brings home a big medal after his fine 300 hurdle effort. Jordan Ferris drops even more time in the 3200 meters. Eaton Invitational - Both Ashley Tharp and Brittany Swift clear school record height in the pole vault. Dylan Thompson gets the highest finish for West Carrollton by nearly winning the 200 meter dash. Ibrahima Seck continues to impress in the distance events and breaks 11:00 minutes in the 3200 meter. Lemon Monroe/Valley View - Crazy weather causes this meet to be cancelled! Fairborn Ed Auckerman Invitational - The meet starts off with the 3200 meter run (usually this is one of the last events) and Seck and Ferris get us off to a great start by placing well with personal record times. Swift and Tharp continue the point avalanche for West Carrollton in the pole vault. Both the boys and girls show good balance in the shuttle hurdle relays with Kiki Behr coming from way behind to catch a couple runners. Brett Gault and D’Angelo Byrd run the best ever 1-2 combination in school history in the 300 hurdles. Gault wins the event and Byrd drops two seconds of his seasonal best to win a third place medal. Hannah Hawkinberry adds 9 inches on her long jump best to place. Franklin lnvitational - West Carrollton girls place well and the boys won the championship. See an article about the meet on the first Pirate Track and Field page. Bogan Relays at WC - The pirate boys continue their winning streak at their annual home relay meet. The girls perform well, also, but not quite enough to bring home the championship. Lebanon Invitational - Despite the rain and yucky weather the boys and girls get some good perfomances against tough competition. Ibrahima Seck gets a silver medal in the 1600 and Brittany Swift brings home a bronze in the pole vault. Dixie Quad Meet - The West Carrollton boys get back on the winning track again with a big victory over Dixie, Preble Shawnee and Eaton. Brittany Swift impresses with a new school record of 8-8 in the pole vault. 2008 HONORS WON.................... Brett Gault - Miami East Invitational champion in the 300 hurdles. Runner-up at the Vandalia Butler invitational and champion in the Fairborn Ed Auckerman Invitational 300 meter hurdles. Double champion at the Franklin Bartt Owens meet in the 110 high hurdles and the 300 hurdles along with a bronze in the long jump. Ibrahima Seck - Double champion at the Franklin Bartt Owens meet where he won the 1600 and the 3200. Silver medalist at the Lebanon Invitational. Brittany Swift - runner-up in the pole vault at the Fairborn Ed Auckerman Invitational and champion of the vault at the Franklin Bartt Owens meet. After a bronze medal performance at the Lebanon Invitational she shatters the school record with an 8-8 vault. Josh Watts - champion in the pole vault at the Franklin Bartt Owens meet and runner-up at the Bogan Relays. Ashley Tharp - runner-up in the pole vault at the Fairborn Ed Auckerman Invitational. She was also runner-up in the vault at the Franklin Bartt Owens meet. She teamed with Brittany Swift for the championship of the Bogan Relays pole vault. D‘Angelo Byrd - medalist in the 300 meter hurdles at the Fairborn Ed Auckerman Invitational and runner-up in the 300 hurdles at the Franklin Bartt Owens meet. Kiki Behr - runner-up in the long jump at the Franklin Bartt Owens meet. Jarred Patton - runner-up in the high jump at the Franklin Bartt Owens meet. Jordan Farris - runner-up in the 3200 meter run at the Bartt Owen Invitational at Franklin. Jamelle Jones - bronze medalist in the 200 meters at the Miami East Invitational. 4x200 relay - D’Angelo Byrd, Tony Wilbur, Sheldon James and Jamelle Jones combine for a bronze medal performance at the Miami East Invitational. 4x100 relay - Dylan Thompson, Sheldon James, Jamelle Jones and Tony Wilbur bring home a bronze medal at the Franklin Bartt Owens meet. Dylan Thompson - bronze medalist in the 200 meters at the Eaton Invitational.
